WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES

While there is no exact formula for success at The New Gym, our employees share a few
qualities that help organizations thrive!

PASSION AND POSITIVITY

Passionate and positive people are the heartbeat of our organization! Our employees are always motivated, optimistic and work together as a team. Positivity is contagious and we always rely on it to grow!

COMMUNICATION AND COOPERATION

The New Gym is a truly collaborative environment. The most successful hires are self-motivated, proactive, and have the ability to connect people to achieve common goals.

CRITICAL THINKING

People who are critical thinkers and problem solvers often progress quickly in organizations! Employees with this skill can be trusted to evaluate situations logically and make independent decisions.

ADAPTABILITY

Work at The New Gym changes and develops constantly. Our employees are always trying new things and testing their abilities.

THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING

  • When applying, consider including a cover letter. This is your unique opportunity to stand out and show the hiring manager who you are, why you’re qualified, and what excites you about applying to The New Gym!
  • Tailor your resume to the job you are applying for. Take the time to link your skills and experience to the job description. Tie your work to the role and include specific metrics.
  • Be specific about the projects you’ve been involved in. Briefly summarize the results of the project and how success was measured.
  • If you are in a leadership role, briefly describe the size of your team and the scope of the work.
  • If you’re a recent graduate or have little work experience, list school-related projects or courses that demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Double-check all documents for typos because this is your first impression on the hiring manager.
  • Remember, a long profile is not a good profile! Keep it short and to the point.

Five suggestions to consider:

Learn about our organization. Check out our website and social media accounts, read our press releases and watch our culture videos! Any information you can grasp about our company, culture and business model is a plus.

Research your interview team to get a basic understanding of their background and how they contribute to the bigger picture. This is also very useful for talking points!

Make sure you understand the role you’re interviewing for. Don’t be afraid to ask the tough questions – we want to make sure you have enough information to determine if this is the right place for you.

Think about interview questions that might be asked and how you would answer them. Prepare a short introduction about yourself or how a previous manager would describe you. Have a few personal stories available that demonstrate your problem-solving skills. This helps the team understand how you face challenges at work and how you express your thoughts.

Interviews are stressful enough, deciding what to wear can make you even more nervous! At The New Gym, we consider ourselves a “Relaxed Business Wear” environment. A general rule is to wear business attire for the first round. For men, shirt (no tie required) and pants. For women, a blouse and trousers or skirt are suitable. This is your opportunity to observe and feel our culture and adjust your attire accordingly during the second round of interviews.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

PHONE INTERVIEW

We will start with a short, introductory phone interview with the HR team.

ONLINE INTERVIEW

Typically, you’ll have one or two short phone or video conversations. These interviews are usually with the hiring manager or colleagues on the team, to assess the key skills you will need for the role.

PROJECT WORK

Some departments require candidates to complete a small project before an in-depth interview. This may include preparing a case study or providing writing samples. This helps us understand how you think and approach problems. If this is part of the interview process, you will have enough time to prepare!

FACE TO FACE INTERVIEW

If possible, we’d love for candidates to come to The New Gym headquarters to meet us in person and get a taste of our great culture! Interviews are a two-way street – we want to give you the opportunity to get to know us as much as we want to get to know you!
